In this tutorial we will explain how to apply for child support in New Jersey step by step. For more details pay attention to the following instructions.

Who can apply for child support New Jersey?

Child support enforcement services are available to any parent or anyone who has custody of a child who requires assistance in establishing a child support or medical support order or in collecting support payments. Child support enforcement services are automatically directed to those who have received help via the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Medicaid, and Federally Assisted Foster Care programs. Note that:

1. Although moms are more often the main custodial parents, either the mother or the father might be the child’s primary guardian.

2. To make sure a child support order is still fair, any parent may seek assistance in having it reviewed at least every three years or if there is a significant change in the circumstances.

3. In order to prove paternity, or a father’s legal link with his kid, an unmarried man might request for services.

The Program accepts applications for services and payments from non-custodial parents whose cases are not included in the CSE Program. By doing this, a record of all payments is created.

  • For non-custodial parents whose children have been kept from them in defiance of a custody or visitation order, location services are available.

Who is the obligee and the obligor?

The recipient of the court-ordered assistance is known as the obligee. And The party with a court order to pay support is known as the obligor.
