TN Child Support Overview

The Child Support Program is administered by the Department of Human Services in Tennessee. Each of the state’s 32 Judicial Districts has an office. Local district attorneys, DHS employees, and private organizations working under state contract provide the services.

The Department of Human Services can assist if you are having trouble getting child support for your kids or want to prove your kids’ paternity. The Child Support Program offers programs that encourage parental accountability to support children’s and families’ financial needs.

The Child Support Program provides the following services:

1. Whereabouts of the parent(s) of a kid for the purpose of proving paternity or receiving support.
2. The determination of paternity.
3. The creation and enforcement of orders for child support.
4. Establishing and enforcing medical assistance.
5. Payment collection and distribution.
6. Orders for child support to be changed.
7. Where child support is involved, the enforcement of spousal support judgments.

There are many offices within the State of Tennessee, so before approaching any of them it would be advisable to call to find out which Child Support office to attend and if it is open.
